Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Ligotti posted a condolence

With great sadness we learned of the passing of our dear friend Charlie Stavola. I came to know him many years ago, first as a patient and then as a friend. During the last few years, because of ill health, our friendship still continued with frequent phone calls and when possible, monthly luncheons. His upbeat personality was filled with kindness, thoughtfulness and caring. We valued our friendship beyond words. Charlie may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
with sincere sympathy to his loving family,
Dr. and Mrs. Gene Ligotti

Uncle Charlie was a one of a kind character and personality. He was usually the life of any family party, telling one joke after another, some of which were even appropriate for the setting!
He was a true people person. You couldn’t mention that you were going to a town or city In the US without him having a good friend there who owned a restaurant ... And of course he’d insist that you go there!
A funny thing I’ll always recall about Uncle Charlie was how early he’d arrive for any family get together that my mom hosted. There was the scheduled start time .... and then there was the Uncle Charlie arrival time, which was always at least an hour earlier than the scheduled time. But you didn’t mind when he unapologetically barreled in before anyone had even showered because he always came bearing great pastries and bread from Brooklyn (And they were the freshest because he had gotten to the pastry shop before even they had opened)!
But aside from the jokes and craziness, he was a good man who cared about people. He looked out for my mom and me, and I’ll always be grateful for that. I recall that when I was a boy he took my mom and me to Wildwood NJ for a vacation. Uncle Charlie coaxed me into golfing, which was not my strong suit. The only thing that exceeded my number of strokes was the number of mosquito bites I got while looking through the woods for my ball. Uncle Charlie, himself a really good golfer, never got impatient or critical ....... though I’m sure there were a few wisecracks that I don’t recall!
I’m smiling thinking about he’s been reunited with my mom and the rest of the uncles. RIP Uncle Charlie.
Love, Anthony Donofrio

Always a gentleman, he will be missed by many who considered him a friend in our printing industry.
