OBITUARY
Wilfred Bruce Kleisler - 84
March 24, 1936 – May 5, 2020
Wilfred, who passed away from Covid19 complications, was a lifelong LI resident. Born and raised in Southampton Village, he settled in Babylon in 1961 where he raised his family with his beloved wife, Kathleen (Curtin) Kleisler, who preceded his death.
After graduating from LaGuardia Academy of Aeronautics, Wilfred enjoyed a long career at Grumman’s Bethpage plant as a flight safety test engineer, retiring after 35 years. Wilfred was a longtime member of the South Bay Cruising Club, with sailing, boating and fishing being his life’s passions. A lover of dogs, he was also a talented painter and photographer, attending many local art classes. But nothing matched his love for both the Peconic and the Great South Bay, instilling this same love of "the water" to his family.
Wilfred is survived by his 5 children: Michael Kleisler of West Palm Beach, FL, Diane Pannizzo of Farmingville, NY, Margaret Rohl of Babylon, NY, Matthew Kleisler of Patchoque, NY, and David Kleisler of Babylon, NY.
He also leaves 5 beloved grandchildren, Brittany, Emily, Bridgette, Julian and Kenny, who played very important roles in his life.
Due to current circumstances, there will only be a private family service on Friday, May 8th. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at a later date.
