Patricia Flynn Menoudakos walked into the eternal protection of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 11, 2020, almost two weeks after being admitted to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside, NY for treatment for the Covid-19 virus. Patricia was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 24th, 1943 to Joseph and Elizabeth Flynn (née Greenseich). The family moved to Ozone Park, NY when she was ten years old. She formed lifelong friendships with “her two Rosemarys”, Vera, and Carolann. After graduating from John Adams High School, she worked secretarial jobs in Manhattan until she married the love of her life, Steve Menoudakos. Steve worked at a flower shop under the “el” train where Pat would walk each morning to commute to work. He thought she was beautiful. It was discovered after they began dating that Steve had made her graduation corsage ordered by her father. They were married on October 11, 1964 and loved each other deeply for thirty-five years until Steve passed away on December 19, 1999. They raised their daughters in Flushing, Queens, NY where Steve owned Drake’s Flowers and later, Busy Bee Pest Control. Patricia then lived in Merrick, NY with her younger daughter, Cindy Costiera, where she helped to care for her two grandchildren, Michael and Justine. Her life had always centered around taking care of her family, her home and her friends. She was an amazing cook and had a hilarious sense of humor. She had friends of all ages because she made people laugh and feel loved. An avid animal lover, she had many pets over her lifetime and was known to take in strays and feed neighborhood cats, as well as the occasional opossum and raccoon. Pat loved anything to do with Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Frank Sinatra and enjoyed watching old movies. One of the most important moments of her life was when she gave her heart to Jesus Christ in July of 1980.

She wanted everyone to know Him and wasn’t afraid to talk about her faith. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Steve, her sister Karen Golder, and her brother Kerry Flynn (Liz). She is survived by her daughters Tracy Fulford (Jeffrey) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Cindy Costiera of Levittown, New York, grandchildren Michael Costiera, Justine Costiera, Anna Fulford, and Faith “Fei-Fei” Fulford, her brother Joseph Flynn (Lois) of Patchogue, NY, and many beloved nieces and a nephew, as well as friends who spanned the length of her life and never stopped loving her. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Richard Costiera, who was like the son she never had. They loved each other and had many fun times together, shopping and going to restaurants. Amazing Grace was a favorite hymn of both Pat and Steve, especially as Steve was dying of lung cancer. An appropriate and lesser known verse sums up their current lives in the safety of Heaven: Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace.
