dear ethan, you always made me feel special from messaging me about my father as soon as you possibly could, to ego deathing me, to coming to one of my very very cold november birthdays at the cage. But you even made me feel special finding out at the wake that your mother knew who i was even though i had never met her. thank you for continuing to make me feel like your priority, i will take that with me forever

Dear Colleen and Family,
We are extremely sad to hear of your loss. You, Ethan and your family are very much in our thoughts.
Ethan looks such a lovely and handsome young man in the photo here; and the tributes confirm his bright and special personality. A son to be proud of.
Take care of each other at this very difficult time.
Much love from your PMO colleagues in London,
Carolyn, John, Erhan and Nirmal x

When Ethan was baptized, the priest held him up to the congregation and said, "This is the light of the world". We were so touched at this special moment and Ethan truly was a shining star in the lives of so many. Rest in peace our dear grandson. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Love, G&G

Ethan blessed our lives with his presence when he was four, and I have never forgotten how beautiful and bright he was, naming all the states and their capitals. Doug and Colleen, I just wanted to share that memory as a testament to Ethan’s incredible ability to touch others in permanent ways.

During this difficult time, we remember his smile which lit up the universe, the eyes that saw wonder in the world, the young skateboarding dude breezing down South Bay Ave in the sunshine, the sailboats he commanded at BSYC, the amazing drumming that made me stop in my tracks to listen to his raw talent, the kindness and respect he showed, and his amazing spirit. His time on Earth was way too short, and our heartfelt condolences go out to all whose lives he touched, his family and friends. Rest in eternal peace, Ethan Day.

I’ve always firmly believed music is in all of us. It forms connections, friendship, and experiences like no other thing on this planet. It brought a bunch great people into my life, who many I can even call my friends. Ethan Day, you were no exception.
I remember meeting you in Audio 1 class in Oneonta, where we were in a group together. We jammed in Studio C and came up with something for our class project, making the first real “song” I had created with other people. The very moment I heard you hit that snare drum — I knew you were one talented man. You had such a nice feel and passion in your playing. And you had such a brightness about you. Every time seeing you brought a smile to my face. We always talked about all different kinds of bands and genres, which only fed our inspiration. The very alias I’ve used for my music “Trip Season,” came from a conversation I had with you. It was you who gave me that, so casually and unaware of how it inspired me. Not to mention, I still have those vinyl records you gave me.
You were a kind, beautiful soul. I feel a big sense of regret in sort of losing touch with you, since your departure from Oneonta. No matter what you may have thought of yourself, I want you to know that you were a very good friend to me. I appreciated you for everything you were. Every second spent in your company was worth it. The impact you had on my life was bigger than you think. I hope you were able to realize the light you had shed on so many others as well. I’ll miss you. I’m grieving, and I still can’t process this all properly... But in the end, I know no one is ever really gone. All I can really say right now— I hope you’re cooking up some tasty jam sessions on the other side!
I’d like to send my condolences to all of Ethan’s family.
Rest Easy, Ethan.

I did not know Ethan well and I am in immense pain. I cannot imagine the magnitude of heartbreak his friends/family feel. To know Ethan was to love and admire him. He was absolutely larger than life. So fucking funny. So intelligent. Clearly had such a love for all things beautiful even when he was going through it. I used to wear band t shirts to school, because I knew he would ask about them. Wearing my MF doom shirt today.
