Obituary

Rob Leddy 67 of Plainedge, NY surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully to his Creator on December 17th after a valiant battle against multiple cancers. He is the beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who had a zest for life and a passion for the dogs he so loved and saved. Rob was predeceased by his loving parents Dan and Joan and is survived by his wonderful and supportive little sisters Joanne and Nancy and his big brother Michael. He loved each of them equally for different reasons.   He left behind his wife of almost 50 years, Eileen, and their three children,  Danny, Robert, and Jamie, whom he devoted his life to.  Like his father and mother, he was one of the most unselfish parents on the planet, only rivaled by his sisters and brother. He was a great Dad long before it came into fashion. He also was one of the greatest animal lovers you will find, so much so, he was forbidden  to go to animal shelters for fear that another rescue dog would become a part of the family.  He also seemed to rescue dogs that were bypassed by others and overlooked. He loved being a volunteer fireman and served both the Bethpage & North Massapequa Fire Departments with pride. Within those departments he found many friends and always cherished those days with his firematic buddies.

.

Rob had many diverse jobs in the course of his shortened life but all with the desire to provide for his family.  He was very smart and could have been anything he put his mind to, even if it was beyond his physical capabilities.  He wore many hats in this life (Construction, Telecommunications, Iron Worker, Fireman, Nurse,  Coach) but the hat that fit best was the one he put on everyday as a wonderful human being and father. He is one of a kind and will be missed but never fear…  we will find him at the side of the Lord at the Rainbow Bridge.(and yes talking)   I will miss my childhood friend and partner in life but know I will see him again. I must remember he is just a heartbeat away.  Thank you for always being there when it mattered most.
