Obituary
Henrietta “Peggy” Follmer, (formerly Higney), age 93, died on Friday May 24, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital just a few minutes away from the loving home of her daughter in Seaford, NY where she lived contentedly for the past four months. From her birth in New York City on June 23, 1925 to her death on Friday she truly lived a free-spirited life through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, traveling with her children, nieces and nephews, dancing, making crafts, and anything involving fun. Peggy was active in her church community and very involved in volunteerism. She was born in New York City to Edward Pilegard and Margaret Weir, the youngest of two children. She grew up in both Deal, NJ and New York City. While attending her best friend’s wedding she met the brother of the groom, William F. Higney, and Peggy and “Bill” married on April 15, 1950. Their 25 year marriage started in New York City and later moved to Uniondale, Long Island, NY. They had six children before she was preceded in death by her husband on September 15, 1975. Peggy went on to raise her family and travel the world. In 1996, on a trip to Florida, she met her late husband, Albert Follmer. At the age of 72, they married and lived in Brick, NJ. After 17 years of marriage she was preceded by Albert’s death on May 9, 2012.
.
Left to honor Peggy are her six children Susan Higney, Nancy (Joseph) Garritano, Jeanne (Raymond) Socha, William R. Higney, Ellen Higney (Ronald Riehl), and Marie (Frederick) Jackson; seven grandchildren, sisters, Lauren, Kayla, Gina Garritano, and Alana (Edward) Hoey, brothers, Raymond Jr, Kurt (preceded her in death on November 15, 2005), and Matthew Socha; step-children Bruce (Dina), Janice, Joan and Fran Follmer; three step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Edward and Lynn Pilegard. Peggy will be remembered as a vibrant light in the lives of all she touched throughout her life.
All are welcome to join the family after services for a Celebration of Life luncheon.

Goodbye mom. You are surely missed. Thank you for being in my life and bringing you humor and honesty. I never forget when you said to me “Putting on a little weight there aren’t you Freddie Boy” . My life is so much better since you were in it. Rest In Peace. You were loved very much.

Mom, we will honor you in the best way we can. Your long and full life makes grieving harder to come to grips with, not easier. You look so pretty in your obituary and that's how i will always remember you. I am comforted by how much you were loved by everyone. You were pretty cool that way. It hasn't sunk in yet that you are gone.
