My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Eddie will always live in my heart and he was never forgotten even though he chose long ago to move on from his past life at Holy Trinity, NYC. He was a role model not only for me but to many of us whose lives he touched. Not only was he my coach, mentor and Best Man at my wedding - he was more than a friend, considered him family. May he rest in peace.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all...
Mr. R was the only teacher I ever had who told me I was a capable and intelligent student who could pass 11 th grade business math. I will never forget him! I actually passed his class with a 95 average, I had never gotten above a 68 in any other math class. Because of him I am a successful business woman today, thank you, dear sweet angel...rest in peace...

To the Rodriquez Family,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I can only imagine how hard it is to say goodbye to such an amazing person and teacher. Mr. Rodriguez was my 8th grade math teacher in the 1992-1993 school year. I loved his class because I loved him and his humor. He pushed us all to do well. He left a huge impact on my life. Specifically he made me want to become the math teacher that I am today. I have told every class that I have ever taught about him and the inspiration that he gave me. He always said, "You can't "JUST" anything in life and I have come to realize that he is right and knows what he is talking about. As a tribute to my dear teacher, I will hang his words on the wall in my classroom in honor of him. Thank you Mr. Rodriguez. I never forgot you and I never will. Sincerely, The Pariah - Michelle Radosti (Yourison)

I send my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Rodriquez family. Mr. R. taught me geometry in 1975-76. I moved to Virginia shortly after and have often thought of him, wondering if he changed careers after having me as a student. What an awesome and devoted educator. He motivated me to do my best and didn't give up on me when other teachers did. I passed geometry (bless his heart, he had me for an entire year which included teaching me in summer school). What a good soul! He's soaring with the angels.

Eddy was the Holy Trinity Catholic School basketball coach and Summer Day Camp Director who had a great sense of humor, disciplined and strict, a good role model and very supportive to a very diverse community.
One lesson learned from him was on a Satueday morning pick game at Holy Trinity gym when he gave me a good scare for dirty play that became a life long example of good sportsmanship in all sports. The Holy Trinity family and students, including a lot of us from class of 1974, Peter, Eddy Lopez, Kevin, Fipo, Eziekel, and others, were well protected by Eddy from neighboring areas gangs as Eddy was well known, respected, and protected us and stood up for the right thing. Despite years gone by, his example and a lot of good memories are remembered. Blessings to all family

He remains a wonderful example of what every teacher ought aspire to, a mentor who's memory will certainly extend the true length of his life, which lives on. Thank you Mr Rodriguez!
My deepest condolences to your family.
(By the way, I was in his class when one of his children were born, and it was wonderful to see him "light up" when he spoke of you)

Eddie was responsible for one of the best summers of my life in 1979. He let me drive his car, took us camping , bought us beer. All the things that are not politically correct nowadays. I haven't seen him in over 30 years but I will miss him. Rest in peace Eddie. You were one of the good guys.

I met Eddie growing up in the upper west side...when it was truly "West Side Story."
He mentored me acting as a older brother (by one year...but with a host of street wisdom). I remember him being such a great athlete...basketball and wow...what a bowler...seldom would one see such a "smooth" delivery.
In a fight, which I was seriously losing, he soothed my wounds and my head. Once when a big guy in the neighborhood, was out to get me, Eddie stood up for me telling this guy he had to go through him to get me. Saved me big time!!!
Yes...big heart...thank you Eddie...thank you very much.
love and gratitude to you!

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Eddie. He was always remembered in the Westside neighborhood of his youth as a man who helped others. At a time (1960s and 1970s) when so many might have taken other paths of temptation, Eddie emphasized athletics and scholarship. His efforts spanned generations of young people with his CYO involvement and spirit of friendship. He is a person whose contributions made a true difference. May he rest in peace.

Eddie was my CYO basketball coach at Holy Trinity Parish in Manhattan and I also worked for him for two summers at Holy Trinity Summer Day Camp. Although I was a less than stellar player he always encouraged me to give my best and I learned a lot of life's lessons from him. RIP Eddie!

Some 55 years ago, growing up in our diverse Holy Trinity Parish on the West Side of Manhattan, NY was indeed a challenge. Urban over-crowding, community cultural changes, growing crime activity and young folks simply looking for a way up and possibly out, Eddy Rodriguez helped so many of us walk the straight line. He constantly shared his optimism, his dreams, his devotion to friendship and whatever else he had to share at the time. A rather quiet, reserved man who became more intense and colorful in debate, Eddy was our scholar, our athlete, our philosopher, our political scientist and teacher. But of all these things, over the many years we were very close, Eddy was a very devoted, loving family man and good, good friend. As our lives changed geographically, physically, socially and mentally over these many years, I will always have very fond memories of our youth,,,,our fun laughter in better times....
On behalf of the Dzikowski & DeGuzman families, my son, James Edward,,,, Angela and I send our deepest condolences to Laura, Debbie, Andy, Emily, Phyllis and Karen. May we focus on and, may Eddy Rodriguez always be remembered for all the good he brought into all our lives....

When I heard all I could think about was how blessed I was to have Mr. Rodriquez totour me in math. He had the right job because he was so good at making math fun. He was also a good friend of my dad's. I remember how crazy they all were when they got together. Laughter was always part of the mix. They used to carpool together. I knew his children when they were little and for a bit of time got to see them grow. I am sorry for the your loss. My prayers are with all of you. I am so glad I knew your dad.
