Obituary of Peter J. Tracy

On Sunday, March 3, 2019, Peter J. Tracy, loving husband and father of five children, twelve grandchildren & seven great grandchildren passed away peacefully at age 85.

Peter was born on July 7, 1933 in Bronx, NY to Edward and Elizabeth (Clerkin) Tracy. He retired from the State of New York where he worked for over 30 years. On August 25, 1956, he married Marie Louise Blydenburgh. They raised two sons, Peter and Thomas, and three daughters, Lauri, Marie and Kerry.

Peter had a passion for the water. He was a life member of the East Islip Anglers Boating Association where he kept his boat and was able to easily access their family beach house oat Sexton Island on the Great South Bay. Peter recently moved to Cambridge Maryland where he was able to live out his love for the water by living on the Chesapeake Bay. He also loved to landscape, with this interest was able to start and maintain a successful landscaping business following his retirement from NYS. He was known for his quite humor, his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit and love of family.

Peter was preceded in death by his father, Edward, his mother, Elizabeth and his brothers Edward and James. He is survived by his wife of over 62 years Marie, his five children, Lauri, Marie, Peter, Kerry and Tommy, as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and a nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in East Islip at 9:45 a.m.
