Obituary of Philip A. Benson

BENSON - Philip A. of Central Islip, LI, passed suddenly of lung cancer on January 31, 2019 at the age of 74. Devoted husband of Judy (Ing). Beloved father of Erik John and the late Brian Philip, who predeceased him in 1989. Cherished grandfather of Nicole and Victoria. Dear brother of Robert. Loving brother-in-law of Arn and Jeff (Angie). Adored uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Philip will be greatly missed by his friends and loyal dogs, Brutus, Sunny and Rocky. Proud combat engineer veteran of the United States Army from 1965- 1967. Philip was a great forklift mechanic and loved his NHRA white '73 small block Vega Wagon. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 mile west of the S.S. Parkway, Exit 45W). A Religious Service to be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 8:00PM. A Funeral Service to be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, LI. In lieu of flowers donations in Philip's loving memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675-8517. Visiting Monday and Tuesday 2:00PM until 4:30PM and 7:00PM until 9:30PM and Wednesday from 12:00PM until 1:00PM.
