Obituary of Emily Brooke

Brentwood - Emily M. Brooke, 85, of North Road died October 31, 2018 at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH.

Born December 5, 1932 in Wyoming, PA, she was the daughter of Charles and Emma (Drabick) Urban. She resided on Long Island, NY and in Palm Bay, FL for many years before moving to New Hampshire in 2012.

She is the widow of William P. Brooke who died in 1998.

Emily is survived by her sisters Theresa De Lima of Harrodsburg, KY, and Mary Vocile and husband Anthony of Port St. Lucie, FL, her son, Martin Richter and his wife Lavina of Epping, NH, and stepsons Peter Brooke and his wife Karen of Holbrook, NY, and Paul Brooke and his wife Donna of Bay Shore, NY, and stepdaughter Joan Fuchs and her husband Robert of Bay Shore, NY. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Charles and Thomas Urban and a stepdaughter Mary Brooke. Emily leaves behind numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

Emily was a long-time employee of Entenmann’s Bakery, and later worked for the City of Palm Bay, FL fire department.  She loved jigsaw puzzles and card games, but her greatest love was family, immediate and extended.  Her whole life revolved around her loving siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and those she adopted into her heart.  Her final days were filled with visits from those who had come to love her in her care facility, where she volunteered in various ways as she was able.  The family is very grateful for the excellent care of Rockingham County Nursing Home whose selfless staff gave her life dignity in a difficult time.   Emily was bolstered by her devout Catholic faith and surrounded by love and prayer up to her last breath.

Calling hours will be held at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home in East Islip, NY on Friday, November 2, from 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 3, at 10 am, at St. Patrick RC Church, Bay Shore, NY. Burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
