Obituary of Josef Sohl
SOHL- Josef, of Bethpage, LI at the age of 91. Devoted husband to the late Irmgard Sohl. Beloved father to Catherine (Rich) LaFalce and Linda Sohl. Cherished Opa to Erich and Nicholas, Cheryl and Marc, Rich, Amy and "the G-men". Dear Uncle to Peter Sohl and Susan Mazza. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Katharina Sohl, and his brother John Sohl. He was born on March 4, 1927 in Jasa Tomic, in the former Yugoslavia, and immigrated to the US in 1951. He served proudly in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was an avid sports fan, and relished playing soccer with The Schwaben Society in The Bronx. There he met his future wife to whom he would be married for 53 years. With a quick wit, wicked sense of humor and boundless perseverance, he built a good life for his family, and enjoyed a long career as a tool and die maker. His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Erich and Nick. He will be remembered for his enormous sweet tooth and mischievous smile, and he will be missed by many. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Bethpage Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road (1 mile north of the Southern State Parkway, Exit 29).
