I first met Pat in 1969 at PRD Electronics in Syosset, Long Island. I worked for him on this very advanced signal delay generator for a Navy program. We immediately hit it off. He had a way of treating you with respect and explaining complex items in simple terms that impressed me. He would impress me many time again in our relationship.
Pat left PRD and returned to Bendix Aerospace in Teterboro, NJ. He made me an offer to join him which I eventually accepted. Working for Pat at Bendix, I learned a lot about electronic design, most of which is never taught in College, Pat would ask me a very simple question and after I answered it, he would follow up with a little more complex one. I followed him through this rabbit hole of inquisition until he eventually arrived at the major point of his teaching. Through this process, I learned the complicated issues associated with electronic design such as grounding, noise susceptibility, and ground loops. After applying these principles for many years, I became the so called expert where other engineers asked for my advice. Thanks Pat.
Pat had a distinctive style of communicating - he was very unassuming, low key, and able to disarm you with his charm. The pressures of the job never altered his friendly approach to dealing with all levels of the organization.
I personally want to thank Pat for the success I had in my career. He gave me so much confidence and was very supportive of my career. He plucked me out of PRD and then was instrumental in getting me promoted when he left Bendix.
I got to know his wife, Marge, very well and met various members of his family over the years. Condolences to Marge and the rest of their family, We will miss him. Thank you Pat for everything. I will never forget you...Mike Dunphy
