Obituary of John J. Collins
Collins, John J., (Capt. Jack), passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Lynbrook in 1938, where he met his future wife Harriett. Jack later moved to North Babylon, where he and Harriett raised three sons. There was nothing more important to Jack than his family. He was a wonderful husband and father, and nothing brought him more joy than his family. Jack was an extraordinary man with an enormous heart. He possessed great character and he will be sorely missed. Jack is predeceased by his wife Harriett (2011) and his oldest son, Jack, Jr. (2015). He is survived by two sons, Michael (Joanne) and Scott (Jeanne), as well as two grandchildren, Michael, Jr. and Skyler. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Thursday 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Babylon, LI. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, LI. Visiting Wednesday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
