To Bob’s Family, You have my deepest condolences for the loss of your father. My dad, Dave Armstrong, was a childhood buddy of his. They grew up in the same neighborhood and served in the military together. My dad suffered a stroke in his 20s and recovered at your grandmother’s house because his own mother worked and could not care for him as needed. As adults, they both worked at the phone company together too. They lost touch for a bit while they were both raising their children. I do remember meeting your dad, “Uncle Bob” a few times. He always made me feel so special. My dad told me “Bobbie” was the best friend a person could wish for. After my dad passed away in 2007, your dad started calling me on a regular basis. He told me he would be available in any way for me and my siblings. We talked a lot and he gave great advice! It was like talking to my own father :-) Of course, he told me how much he loved his sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. I spoke to your dad shortly before he passed away. I did not realize that would be our last conversation. I wish we could have spoken one more time. Your dad told me that he prayed for my dad every night. I will do the same and pray for both of them. I’m sure my dad was waiting to greet him at the “pearly gates”. With sympathy, Erin and Family
