Please know that Peter and I share in the sadness of your loss. In all the memories of growing up in Hollis, Selma plays a huge part. Her door was always open for us to gather. Somehow there was always enough for dinner for however many of us showed up on a Sunday. Christmas Eve was always a special time. Every Christmas Eve I have thought of her and remembered her and Joe in my prayers. No matter what else was going on, everyone stopped in for Selma's Open House. If you happened to bring an unexpected guest, a magical Christmas Gift appeared under the tree with this person's name on it. It was this welcoming and generous spirit that left such an impression on me. Love to all the family!

Lots of love to the Galvin and Carnival family. Selma was a joy to know and be around and I'm thankful for our friendship over the last four years. She'll be remembered for her artful expressions and boundless energy, and she'll be looking down on all who were fortunate enough to spend some time with her. Let's have a Sellie-bration of her life!

I am sooooooo sorry to hear about Aunt Sel but I know that she received a warm welcome in heaven .... First from Jesus and then from her many loved family members and friends. Aunt Sellie never met a stranger and had the knack for making everyone feel welcomed and special. She loved and welcomed me when I joined the family 38 years ago and I will forever be thankful!! My children and I have so many great memories of the times we spent together especially our annual Christmas get togethers always complete with a grab bag to delight everyone!!! She was filled with joy and lived life to the full. I'm sure our God greeted her with "well done thy good and faithful servant"!!! Till we meet again .... She will be missed!

My deepest sympathies to all of you. Selma was a special woman indeed and played an extraordinary role in my years growing up next door in Hollis. Her friendship to me, my mom and grandparents, her mentoring and kindness will never be forgotten. Thinking back I fondly remember all the parties in the garage/backyard, the little pool we swam in on hot summer days, the swing on the garage that she let me use constantly. I still have fond memories of all the Christmas Eves she invited us to celebrate with all of you and our houses were interchangeable day in and day out. We could always count on her warmth, generosity and humor and her steadfast friendship with my mom meant the world to us.
I have no doubt that she, my mom, Mickey and Marie are buddies in heaven as they were here on earth and watching over all of us. I'm eternally grateful to her for allowing us to be part of your family all those years.
Love and prayers
Lorraine

Condolences to the whole family. (Aunt) Sel was a remarkable woman and she lived life to the fullest. When I was a young girl she was like a second mother to me. My own mother considered her to be her lifelong best friend. She was always warm and welcoming and always made you feel special even if it was as simple an act as using her good cloth napkins for an informal lunch or sharing her marvelous spoon collection. Her home truly had an open door and her smile could brighten any day. I have so many fond memories of times spent together with Sel, Joe and the whole Galvin/Accardo family. I will cherish my memories and smile whenever I think of her - she was a beautiful woman.
