There is so much I can say about my Mom, but it would take me all night to do so.
Let me start with a little background on My Mom. My Mom was born in County Cork, in a small province called Ballincollig. She was born August 7, 1927. She was the daughter of Daniel Joe and Eileen O’Mahoney, pronounced as O Manny in Ireland but we say Mahoney here. She did not have much growing up, but what she did have was an abundance of love from two parents who gave her all the love in the world. She lost them at a young age but the love she had for them never died and it was evident in the way she spoke of them and smiled every time she told us the stories. They made her the strong, beautiful, warm, caring and loving woman she was!!
I thank my grandparents (whom I never met) for giving me the GIFT of My Mom, Mary Lucinda Finn.
All of us here tonight are here because this beautiful, gentle soul has touched you in some way or another. Knowing my Mom was knowing and more importantly, feeling, her love. She was so genuine and kind and to many of my friends here tonight, she was for sure their second Mom. There were no false pretenses with my Mom. If you were lucky enough to have had a hug from her or to hold her warm hands or sat and listened to her endless stories about Ireland, then you know what I mean. She was truly the BEST!
I am thankful that I had my Mom as long as I did. She was 90 years YOUNG! In these 90 years she had more than her share of tough times, but she was STRONG. She was our WARRIOR!!
I am also thankful that God kept her around for her two beautiful granddaughters, Meaghan and Shannon. They were, as she would say, “The loves of her life…her whole life.” She helped me raise them and my children gave her purpose and kept her going. She taught them the meaning of unconditional love, just as I had known that being so lucky to have had her as my Mom, my Mary Finn.
Something my Mom always said to me over the years and until now I did not really understand….”When you lose your mother there is no pain quite like it, as you only have ONE mother and you will NEVER have another”
My Mom had such a strong faith and I know that she is at peace now and with the Lord.
Mom, this is not goodbye forever, this is just a break in our seeing each other until we meet again…you are and will always be my TREASURE…Just as you told me every day how I was yours!!
I LOVE YOU!!!

Mahone, you are very special. One of my funniest memories is screaming, mahone, mohone, mahone, in your kitchen as I came in from the snow and was falling down on the kitchen floor because my shoes were wet. As I kept slipping and sliding trying to catch myself. We all laughed so hard,
Love you,
Donna

So sorry to hear about Mary's death. She was a lovely woman and my mother Bridget, when she met her the time she came over to Ireland many years ago now, felt she had made a dear friend and they kept in touch on the phone, having long extended conversations. I met her the time she came over to Ireland as well, and really liked her. She was a lovely, gentle and kind woman at this time, it was a privilege to have gotten to know her at that time and will always remember the evening we all went out as a family to a cultural evening of Irish song and dance in Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Eireann and how much Mary enjoyed the evening. May she Rest In Peace. Love and best wishes to you. Susan (Cousin and Niece)

May the road rise to meet you.
