Obituary of William Elmer Sandie

Sandie– William E., of Wantagh, LI on February 10, 2018. Beloved father of Kimber Lee Sandie. Cherished former wife of Doris Sandie. Loving brother of Evelyn, Robert, Ruth, and Ellen. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Bill had a passion for sports playing for Mepham High School football and wrestling, lettered in football at University of Miami and ended his athletic career playing for the New York Jets. As a Scholar Athlete he won the Thrope Award, made the All-Metro team, had his #19 Jersey retired for his High School for football and also was the SSAL and LI Wrestling Champion of 1954.  Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons East Islip Funeral Home, 200 East Main Street (1/2 mile west of the S.S. Parkway, Exit 45W). A Religious Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 8:00 PM. All other services to be held privately. Visiting Thursday 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM until 9:30 PM.
