Thornewell, William of East Islip, NY. William passed peacefully one day short of his 92nd birthday on December 10, 2017. Proud WWII Navy Combat Veteran who served on the USS Panamint (Lucky 13). Former Bay Shore Fire Department Volunteer. Retired from NYSDOT after 42 years.Loving Husband of the late Alice. Inspiring Dad to his sons William and the late Kenneth. Cherished Grandfather of William, Kimberly, Kenneth Jr., & Kevin. Reposing at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 200 East Main St., East Islip, NY 11730. Visitation Wednesday 7-9pm & Thursday 2-4:30 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass, Friday 11 AM at St Patrick’s Bay Shore, NY. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to National Kidney Foundation https://team.kidney.org/campaign/William-Thornewell.
