Obituary

Shanan Mauro, son of Cosmo (deceased) and Careen Mauro, sadly passed away on October 11, 2024 at the age of 49 after a long and courageous battle against a rare cancer. He was a double Master’s graduate and enjoyed his profession of teaching at West Islip Union Free School District. Shanan loved old school hip hop and 80s rock, gardening, the Yankees and Giants, playing sports and coaching, the beach, and thriller movies, but most of all he loved his family, whom he fought long and hard to stay with. He is survived by his wife, Jill, and young daughter, Gioia Bella. He touched many lives while here on Earth. We know heaven has gained an angel with his passing. Arrangements entrusted to the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home.
