Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of John Walter Genega (Walter), 93, announces his passing on October 6, 2024, in Babylon, NY. He was the beloved husband of Edna Mae Genega (nee Stines); devoted father of Thomas (Linda), James (Maria), Laura de Prato and Jeffrey (Alice); dear grandfather of Gregory, Jaclyn, Jennifer, Ashley, Candice, Christopher, Daniel, Robert and Leonardo; dear great-grandfather of Anthony, Lucas, Caleb, Sydney, Grayson and Elliott. Walter was born on June 20, 1931, in Long Island City, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents Ilko and Tessie Genega, and his brother Nicholas Genega. He served in the United States Navy (1952-1955) and attended Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY. Walter worked his entire career as an electrical engineer at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, NY and retired after 40 years.
