Obituary

Smith, James F., formerly of Levittown, NY and West Islip, NY, passed away peacefully at his home in Cape Coral, Fl on Sunday August 18th at the age of 88 years old. Jimmy was born October 16, 1935 in Bronx, NY and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Kathleen (formerly of County Cavan Ireland), his brothers Thomas, Philip, Michael and his infant son James. A devoted husband and loving father, Jimmy was married to Kay (nee Condon) for 64 years. They raised three children, Sean (Carol), Maureen Foley (Brian) and Patricia Viviano (Frank). He was the proud “Pop” of his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Sandhogs Local 147, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and never missed an opportunity to raise a pint (or two) and toast Slainte. A funeral mass will be held Saturday September 7th at 10:30 am, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 39 N. Carll Avenue, Babylon NY.
