Obituary

Nicholas L. Cerverizzo Jr., retired NYPD Sergeant, preceded by his wife of 52 years Betty (Samartano). He is survived by his children Thomas (Laura) and Dina Vigorito (the late Frank) and his wonderful grandchildren Nicole (Brandon), Matthew (Danielle), Jamie, David and great granddaughter Charlotte Rose and his beloved dog Boo. Nick was a wonderful painter. He was an artist before he was a policeman. A graduate of the School of Industrial Arts. Nick was an army veteran and joined the police force in 1957. Where he worked in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens before retiring in 1980 from the 110 precinct. As a policeman he delivered many babies, the first was when he was on the job for only two weeks. He retired was retired for one week and went on to work for Fortunoff’s for the next 15 years. He married his beautiful wife Betty also in 1957 and was married for 52 years before her passing in 2010. In addition to painting, Nick loved to fish. He bought a boat and would take anyone who wanted to come along. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Nick’s name.
