With her family by her side, Janet Patricia (Morrow) Hartz of Deer Park, New York, passed away on July 31, 2024, at the age of 77, following a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late John Hartz. Devoted mother of John Hartz and his wife, Deirdre, of Milton, MA, and Kerry Weir and her husband, Jeffrey, of Chapel Hill, NC. Cherished grandmother “Marmee” of Jack and Grace Hartz and Mildred and Della Weir. Dear sister of James Morrow and his wife Kathleen. Janet was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved as a child to North Babylon, NY. She later became an English teacher at North Babylon High School, which she'd also attended. As an educator, she was known for her passion and dedication. She loved theater, literature, travel, current events, and spending time with her family and friends. Janet’s warmth, kindness, generosity, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy., (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.). Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Monday, August 12th at 9:15 AM at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, Deer Park, LI. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Visiting Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
