Egbert (“Eddie”) Woodrow Edwards, Jr., a longtime resident of Dix Hills, NY, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. He was 72. “Grandpa”, as he was called by his two grandchildren, was a faithful son of God and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Eddie had a career as a Management Information Systems Director in New York City for many years and he greatly enjoyed his work. He was an enthusiastic soccer fan who enjoyed playing and watching games but loved the moments with his family and friends more. He was a kind man who loved his family and friends deeply. Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Valerie (“Val”) Edwards, his children Karen and Paul, his daughter- in- law Nicole and his grandchildren Mason and Mia. Eddie is also survived by a sister and three brothers, Paulette “Charm”, Orville “Ville”, Michael “Tony”, Seymore “Neville” and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Eddie will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. His family takes great comfort in knowing he is at peace. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the viewing on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then again on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 20 Hicksville Road, Bethpage, NY 11714. Funeral Service will directly follow on Friday, January 26, 2024, at PineLawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Eddie’s memory to the American Lung Association.
