Obituary

William A. Walters Jr., 92, U.S. Army Korean War Veteran William “Billy” Walters Jr., passed away peacefully in his home after spending his remaining days with his three daughters and loved ones. Bill was born in a farmhouse in West Freehold, New Jersey, to William A. Walters, Sr. and Helen Walters where he lived for the first few years of his childhood. His family then moved to Whitestone, New York, where he lived for the remainder of his formative years, along with his beloved sister Helen B. Walters. He eventually moved to Levittown, where he lived for more than 60 years and was an active member of St. Bernards Church and LAC. Bill was a Korean War Veteran who toured from 1951 through 1953, as a member of the 40th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. Upon his return, he obtained his BBA in Management from St. John’s University while he worked for Bayside National Bank and started his family.

.

Although accomplishing much in his 92 years, his greatest accomplishment can be boiled down to the loved ones he left behind and their admiration for him. An outstanding support system for both his kids and grandkids, he was as dependable as the sun rising in the morning. As a father, he spent countless hours and many years as a Levittown Athletics softball coach. As a grandfather, you would find him in the stands at every event with a cooler of Gatorade and a warm hug after. If you were hungry, there’s a good chance he’d have some nourishment in the form of a coffee or crumb cake. Survived by his loving children Kathleen (John) Noonan, Mary (Arthur) Angst, and Eileen (Lee) Todd: grandchildren Megan Noonan, Eric (Tarah) Noonan, Alexandria Angst, Arthur Angst III, and Leanna Todd: and great-grandchildren William and Emma Noonan. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the calling hours at Chapey’s Funeral Home in Bethpage, NY, on January 6th (Saturday) from 7-9pm and January 7th (Sunday) from 3-5pm & 7-9pm. A Mass will be held on Monday, January 8th, at 9:15am at St. Bernard’s Church, Levittown, NY.
