Obituary
Barry V. Pittman, 75, of Brightwaters, NY, passed away on November 16, 2023 after a prolonged illness. He was born on October 26, 1948, in Modesto, CA, to the late Charles Valdean Pittman and Dorothy
Choate Pittman. Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle Pittman, their children Amy Furey and Barry P. Pittman, and his cherished grandchildren Aidan Furey and Delilah Furey. He is also survived by his son-in-law Anthony Furey, sister Kim Jones, and brother Michael Pittman. Barry was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Tim Pittman.
Barry was an extraordinary individual who lived life to the fullest. He was known for his athleticism, intellectual curiosity, and spirit of competition. In his relentless pursuit of new hobbies, he found himself to be an avid reader and sailor who enjoyed spending time on the golf course, ski slopes, duck hunting fields, and fly-fishing waters, all while exploring the wonders of astronomy through his telescopes, one of which he made himself. He truly found inspiration all around him in the vastness of land, sea, air and space.
Barry served his country with honor and dedication as a member of the United States Army from 1970 to 1979. He first served in the Field Artillery as an Army Airborne Ranger serving in the Vietnam War, and later became a JAG (Judge Advocate General Corp) attorney. After his military service, he pursued a career as a private attorney where he continued to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Barry's educational journey began at Yerrington High School in Yerrington, Nevada. He then went on to graduate from the United States Military Academy in 1970 and pursued further education at the Union College School of Law, graduating in 1976.
Barry had a strong faith, and found solace and community at St. Patrick's R.C. Church in Bay Shore, NY, where he worshipped and found spiritual guidance.
.
Barry V. Pittman will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of strength, determination, and intellectual curiosity will continue to inspire those whose lives he touch
