John A. Ruisi MD, 65, peacefully passed away at home on June 6, 2022. Dr. Ruisi was a dedicated and beloved cardiologist. He began his practice in the early 90’s, South Shore Cardiovascular Medicine in Amityville and later expanded to West Islip. Through the years he was affiliated with Brunswick, Good Samaritan, South Side, St Joseph’s and Winthrop Hospital. His devotion to his practice, patients and coworkers is unparalleled. Among many of his professional and personal accomplishments he was an avid runner. He ran countless 5k runs, half marathons and the NYC & Gasparilla Marathons. The Elizabeth T McNamee Run which supports research and awareness for HCM [hypertrophic cardio myopathy] was near and dear to his heart. He not only ran the annual 5K run but also served on the committee of the foundation. Go BUCS! What more can be said for his unconditional love for the Tamps Bay Buccaneers. Through the good years and bad he was their #1 fan. Dr. Ruisi is survived by his life partner Rosanne DeGasero, three children; Sara, John and Samantha, granddaughter, Hannah, brothers; Joseph, Francis and Leonard and predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Geraldine. He is also survived by his Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Extended Family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Elizabeth T.
