Obituary

Richard A. DeVilla passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 21, 2022 surrounded by family. Richard was born in New York City in December of 1940 to James and Helen DeVilla. Although growing up in the city, Richard spent many of his summers with his grandparents at their Farm in East Galway developing a love for the country that would continue into his adulthood. In his teens, Richard would meet his future wife Phyllis and the two would be married shortly after Richard finished college and his study of electrical engineering. Together forever, the couple would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in March. With college completed, Richard began his career which would see him spend time with Boeing Aeronautics and General Electric amongst other employers and travel to such exotic locations as Arkansas, Philadelphia and Syracuse to name a few. Richard would ultimately leave General Electric, starting his own Medical Imaging Distributorship (Alpha Medical) where his organization sold and serviced medical equipment to Tri-State area hospitals and imaging centers. Following a successful 20 years in business, Richard retired spending time traveling with his family and pursuing hobbies including muscle car mechanics, boating, fishing and woodworking. In addition to spending quality time with his family, Richard could just as easily be found involved in the next woodworking project, out on the water boating, catching fish, building computers or playing the latest PC game. Richard is survived by his wife Phyllis, his three children James, Jill and Richie and 7 grandchildren (Talia, Ty, Jessica, Jack, Alyssa, Deanna and Lauren). He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
