A Letter to Mom

Dear Mom, You created so many wonderful memories for us and touched the lives of so many.  Your children were blessed to have you as a mom.  Your love of life and family extended to your grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.    From collecting pond water in Bethpage park just to see what we could catch, exploring the abandoned  Beau Se Jour  hotel,  Making wax paper copies of old tombstones, visits to countless museums,  showing me how to tell a weed from a vegetable plant, making ice cream, taking me out of school in 6th grade to visit the UN because I saw it on the News…..it was an endless stream of adventure, learning,  cooking and reading.  You answered every question we had as kids and you encouraged each of us to explore our talents.     Our weekends and summer vacations were filled with barbeques, events and visits with friends and family.  There was always something to do and never a dull moment.   In the last few year’s your body slowed but your mind never did.   I will miss our talks and your wisdom.      I cannot put into word the gratitude I have for you and the impact you have had on our lives.   My heart is broken to see you go but I know you are with God and planning your next adventure.   You were a great Mom, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend.   You were loved by so many and a gift to all who knew you.       Love Always, your Son   Greg
